Lead a life that everyone could lead

Imagine your actions multiplied by 7 billion. If everyone did what you’re doing, would the world be better or worse?

If everyone bought a Hummer, would the world be a better place? What about a Prius? If everyone drank out of a reusable water bottle instead of plastic ones, how much waste would be saved? And what about your job? What would the world look like if everyone was a lobbyist? Or a teacher?

This maxim must be carefully balanced with responsibility for one’s own interests. When considering action, both maxims must be satisfied.
