Become a specialist

Cultivate one, specific skill that you’re better at than everyone else on earth.

To become a specialist, you must pioneer unchartered territory. Reading books will get you some of the way there, but really you have to document territory yourself and write your own book. After all, if someone has already written the book, then it’s not your speciality, it’s theirs.

A speciality can be broad or narrow, vertical or horizontal. A man may be a “5-10 unit apartment building broker, limited to University City, Philadelphia.” Another man may be a “fast casual restauranteur.” All are valid.
