Avoid processed foods

If you simply eat nature’s own ingredients, untampered — also known as “unprocessed foods” — your diet will be healthy.

Chicken fingers, frozen pizzas, Ramen noodles, sausage, and ice cream are all examples of processed foods to avoid. Bananas, salmon filet, nuts, and kale are all examples of healthy, unprocessed foods to enjoy. Note that foods with chemical fertilizer, hormones, additives, or laboratory modifications are considered processed.

Rare exceptions, such as for Thanksgiving dinner, are fine; on the topic of food, as with any habit in life, it matters not what you do 1% of the time, but what you do 99% of the time.
